December 5, 2013 - The rest of the story

Hey!! Okay so Sister Jones heard I came in really late last night so she said I can have a few more minutes to write you because she’s a mother and she knows that you were probably worried ;) So my first flight to Seattle I sat next to a man who was a member and he was so incredibly helpful. He walked me all the way to my gate even though it was on the other side of the airport. Then I ate a bagel and waited for my next flight to Dallas. I sat next to a guy who was really nice and talkative and pointed me in the right direction. Also the Dallas airport is awesome. I found my gate really quickly and had like a 3 hour layover so I went and walked around and ate some McDonalds. Then I sat next to another member on the way to Mexico City and he only had one arm but was really nice. He walked me through immigration and helped me get my luggage (one of the wheels came off one of my bags btw but it’s not that big of a deal) and then when we got to the other side of the Mexican airport. I couldn’t find anyone from the MTC waiting for me and no one spoke English so I’m just like waiting there for about an hour and I had the guys numbers to call but I couldn’t figure out how to use the payphone. But I wasn’t freaking out at all. haha I was just sitting there like, well, the Lord sent me on a mission to teach the gospel probably not to get left in a foreign country alone so I just waited and finally some guy was running up to me with a sign that had MTC MISSIONARY on it!! haha It was awesome. And the van ride was soooo crazy!! The driver barely spoke English and I barely speak Spanish so I was just reading all the signs out loud and he would try and tell me what they meant and then I was naming like colors and body parts I knew in Spanish and he would say them in English. MEXICO CITY IS HUGE!!!! It is seriously indescribable here!! Right behind the MTC there’s mountains and hills with houses stacked on houses like they are in Brazil. And it’s a little humid here but not too bad so i think it’s a good transition for me to go to Orlando. My companion is Sister Day and my other two roommates are going to CALI. They are all so sweet! I’ll take lots of pictures. It’s so beautiful here!! And warm!! The weather is perfect. My p-day is on Tuesday, though, so I’ll write you more then! Love you!!!!
